It is with heavy hearts we announce Mr. Darren Walter Tenkula, age 62 years, passed away unexpectedly at home on November 28th, 2024. A resident of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Darren was born on May 24th, 1962 in Port Arthur. Darren attended Selkirk High School and completed welding courses at Confederation College in 1985. He was employed at Great Lakes Forest Products, thereafter worked as a welder and then as a taxi driver for Lacey’s Taxi until retirement. Darren enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends, his son Ryan was his greatest joy.

Darren is survived by his partner Janet Ruby, his son Ryan Tenkula, mother Eleanor McLean (nee Hunnakko), stepfather Bruce McLean, siblings Dwayne Tenkula, Denise Tenkula and Debra Hitz, stepsisters Loralie Balec and Kerri McLean, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Darren was predeceased by his father Adolph Tenkula, grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place. As per family wishes, a small celebration of life has taken place on December 6th. Internment will be held at a later date at the Leeper Cemetery located in Nolalu, Lybster Township.
