OBITUARY
Dr. Alexander P. Rosin, beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024, following a brief illness, just days before his 86th birthday.

He was born on November 30, 1938. A native Floridian, he was raised on a cattle ranch in Arcadia. After the loss of his father at the age of 14, Alexander took charge of the ranch with over 1,200 head of cattle, all the while graduating high school early with honors. He then attended the University of Florida (1959) followed by Tulane University School of Medicine (1963). He was a highly intelligent, gentle, and loving man who loved his work, his family, and his Florida Gators. He was a Gator Booster for many decades and truly enjoyed attending both football and basketball games with his family.

Alexander called Jacksonville home after returning from Vietnam in 1966, having served as a surgeon in the United States Army. He opened his OB-GYN practice on Hendricks Avenue and visited clinics across the city, often treating patients in the Black community at a time when other doctors refused. He developed many techniques that revolutionized the practice to this day, passing on his knowledge through the countless medical students he trained. Along with other physicians in the community, Alexander developed the modern concept of the emergency room and worked to implement it at Baptist Medical Center. As an OB-GYN and fertility specialist, Alexander delivered close to 11,000 babies before his retirement in 1994, having helped patients who traveled from around the world seeking his care.

In June 1961, Alexander married the love of his life, Terry Drucker Rosin, in Savannah, Georgia. They built a home in Jacksonville, Florida and in turn built a beautiful, growing family.

Everyone who knew Alexander knew about his hobbies and how much he enjoyed making resin trivets (as “Resin By Rosin”) collecting Beanie Babies, trading Disney Pins, and most of all, fulfilling his role as “Poppa” to his beloved grandchildren.

Alexander is survived by his wife Terry Rosin; daughter Marla (Pennie) Rosin-Borrousch and grandchildren Noah and Zachary Rosin-Borrousch; son Scott (Karen) Rosin, grandchildren Olivia (Kyle) Schwartz and Natalie (Ben Tepfer) Rusnak, and great-grandchild Zoe Schwartz; and daughter Nikki (Michael) Aronin and grandchildren Matthew and Emily Aronin. Alexander is also survived by his brothers Simon and Michael Rosin and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Alexander is preceded in death by his brother Robert P. Rosin and his brother-in-law Gary Drucker.
