Lenora Smalls Obituary

Lenora Smalls was born on April 8, 1948 in Georgetown, SC to the late Jimmy and Lula Wyman. Lenora passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT. Lenora graduated from Whittemore High School in 1966. In 1968 she relocated to the Bronx, NY where she met the love of her life, William Smalls. They were married in 1969 and from their union they had four daughters. In 1978, William & Lenora relocated to Danbury, CT.

She served as a devoted member of the Victory Christian Center as long as her health permitted. Lenora was most known for her warm spirit, generosity, love of cooking, kind heart, warm hugs, wisdom-filled advice and contagious laughter and humor. She often opened the doors of her home to anyone in need of a hot meal or a listening ear. Her family and friends remember her as a jokester with an infectious laugh, a beacon of love and hospitality and a woman who loved fiercely and deeply.

Lenora is survived by her loving husband of nearly 56 years, William Smalls; four daughters: Charlotte Abraham of Danbury; Lona Auguste of Waterbury, CT; Melissa (German) Martinez-Zeron of the Bronx, NY; Leticia (Lawrence) Taylor of Waterbury, CT; and one step- daughter, Lorraine Smalls of Beaufort, SC; two goddaughters: Marlene Cooper of Waterbury, CT; and Shiann Ward of Danbury, CT. She is further survived by her sisters: Corine Corbett of the Bronx, NY; Priscilla Fuller of Conway, SC; Elder Frances Graham of Irvington, NJ; and Patricia Wyman of Montclair, NJ; fifteen grandchildren: twelve great grandchildren; and a host of beloved relatives and friends.

The Smalls family would like to give a special acknowledgement of gratitude to Elaine Ingraham who served as a devoted aide. Elaine's love, care and support is greatly appreciated.

Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy & Lula Wyman, as well as her siblings: Albertha Hunter, Minnie Johnson, and Jimmy Wyman, Jr. Lenora's life was a testament to her enduring kindness, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to her family, church and community. Lenora will be greatly missed, but her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
