Jerry A. Wilbur, 82, of Alpha, died Thursday, November 28, 2024, at his home. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM at the Hawkeye Community Hall.

Jerry Allen, son of Albert and Ethel (Nelson) Wilbur was born July 12, 1942, at the family’s home in Waucoma. He was baptized in the Lutheran Faith and later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union. Jerry graduated from North High in West Union in 1960, and attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette. On August 19, 1960, he was united in marriage with Betty Priebe at the Little Brown Church, near Nashua. To this union two sons were born, Jeff and Jay. Jerry began his professional career with the family’s business, Wilbur Ford in West Union, later working at John Deere in Waterloo for thirty years, prior to retiring in 1995. In his retirement, he worked at Wilbur Ford a few days a week. He was a member of the U.A.W. Jerry was an outdoor enthusiast, whether it be fishing or hunting.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Betty of Alpha; son, Jeff Wilbur of rural Waucoma; granddaughters, Misty Wurzer and Katie Roberts; three great-grandchildren, Hailey, Gavyn, and Dyson Wurzer; brother, Steve (Ann) Wilbur of Arizona; sisters, Alice (Gene) Bemis of Hawkeye and Mary Puls of Arvada, Colorado; sister-in-law, Sherry Priebe of Hawkeye; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jay on May 16, 1979; brother, Bob (Gail) Wilbur; and brothers-in-law, Lee Priebe and Dennis Franck.
