Floyd "Pop" Stokes, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on December 23, 1938, in Cartersville, GA, Floyd lived a life marked by love, generosity, and deep family ties.
Floyd was a dedicated member of The Entire Bible Baptist Church in Acworth where he formed lasting bonds. He harbored a passion for auctions, which he attended with unbridled enthusiasm, sharing this joy with friends and loved ones.
Above all, he was a devoted husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather, and a proud great-grandfather, whose heart of gold touched all who knew him. Floyd will be remembered as an embodiment of kindness and generosity, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and guide his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Sarah Louise Stokes, grandson, James Stokes and several brothers and sisters.
Floyd is survived by his children, Tommy Stokes (Meshell), Steve Stokes, Donna Stokes (Mark) and Scott Stokes (Julie); grandchildren, Diane Stokes, Judy Bright, Travis Weaver, Caroline Gipson, Mary Gipson, John Floyd Stokes and Jessica Chumley; great-grandchildren, Jade Stokes, Jaycee Beck, Sabrina Duckett, Beverly Mumper, Cameron Bright, Kaden Brown, Carter Byar, Oakley Byar, and Karli; siblings, Vera Ingle, Juanita Millsap, James Stokes and Louise Griswald; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Dallas, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 1st from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Monday prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
