Michael Rapuano, Jr. Obituary

Michael Rapuano Jr., 91 of East Haven, passed away peacefully with his family at his home on Wednesday, November 27th, 2024. He was born in New Haven to the late Michael Sr. and Nicoletta Izzo Rapuano. Michael was a 1952 graduate of the Boardman Trade School and a dedicated U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a proud union member of UA Local 777 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union and co-founded Northeast Mechanical Contractors with his partner, the late Drew Sutton. His favorite past times included playing cards, bowling, and golfing with his neighborhood buddies, spending time by the ocean crabbing and fishing, wintering in Fort Myers with his wife Marlene, going to Savin Rock in West Haven, breakfast at the State Street Cafe, watching Westerns, the Yankees, and NFL games, and putting on firework displays on 4th of July. Michael is survived by his children Debra Cozzolino, Michele Rapuano, Robin (Joseph) Minnocci, Michael (Cheryl) Rapuano, and David (Gina) Rapuano, grandchildren Kristen Cozzolino, Anthony Rapuano, Rene Minnocci and Jeanine (Iain) Minnocci Lamb, Nicole (Vinnie) Amodio, Mikayla and Daniela Rapuano, and Gianna, David, Natalia, and Olivia Rapuano, and great grandchildren Michael Cozzolino and Marina and Lucia Amodio. Michael was predeceased by his forever love and wife of 64 years, Marlene Rapuano, his brothers Harry, Ralph, Donald, and John Rapuano, and his sister Lucille Blomberg. 

His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Monday at 12:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 12:30. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call MONDAY MORNING from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the VA Medical Center or St. Jude Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org.
