Kenly- Dwayne Steven Proctor, 63, of Kenly, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at The Carrolton of Dunn after a five year battle with cancer. Born on February 8, 1961 in Johnston County, he was son to the late James William “Sonny” Proctor, Jr. and Adell Whaley Proctor.
After graduating from North Johnston High School in 1979, Dwayne’s adventurous spirit lead him down several different career paths within the construction trades, however cutting hair was always his passion. In 2015, he graduated cosmetology school from Mitchell’s Academy in Wilson.
Ever the “life of the party”, Dwayne enjoyed motorcycles, dirt bikes, rock n’ roll, the beach and being a Dad and Grandpa. He was truly a free spirit and lived his life the way he wanted to live it.
His infectious smile and sarcastic humor will be sorely missed.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his mother, Adell, and father “Sonny” Proctor. He is survived by his daughter Stephany (Proctor) Hinton and spouse Jordan Hinton, Granddaughter Lorelei Sydney-James Hinton, brothers Dennis Hoffman and spouse Joyce Hoffman, Tony Hoffman and spouse Sharon Hoffman, and his uncle Selby Proctor, as well as many cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Kenly Funeral Service. A graveside service to honor Dwayne’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Kenly Cemetery.
