Mr. Robert “Bobby” Milton Christie, Sr., 85, resident of Plum Branch Road near Edgefield, husband of the late Catherine McDaniel Christie, died Thursday, November 28, 2024, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood.

Born January 1, 1939, in Edgefield County, he was the son of the late Thomas Daniel Christie, Sr. and Connie Talbert Christie. A lifelong resident of Edgefield County, Bobby graduated from Edgefield High School where he played football and was recognized as a “local star” for his high school football accomplishments. He retired after working many years as a logger, owning and operating Robert Christie Logging. Bobby enjoyed coon hunting and fishing and meticulously kept his yard in tip top condition for many years. He was a devoted Clemson Tigers fan who for many years attended football games with his family and friends. Bobby later liked to watch the Tigers play and NASCAR racing on his television.

Bobby was a member of Berea Baptist Church and was a former member of Clemson’s IPTAY.

Surviving are his son, Robert “Robbie” Milton Christie, Jr. (Beth) of Parksville; his daughter, Gwendolyn “Gwen” Christie Perry (Coby) of Edgefield; one sister-in-law, Patricia Griffis of Edgefield; four grandchildren: Christie Talbert (Sherice) of Easley, Adam Talbert of Columbia, Margaret Anne Christie Green (Zach) of Gainesville, GA, and Elisabeth Christie (Fiancé Preston) of Hampton.

In addition to his parents, Bobby is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, whom he married on June 30, 1957, Catherine Elizabeth McDaniel Christie; his brother, Thomas “Tommy” Christie, Jr., and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, December 1, 2024, in the Berea Baptist Church located at 1675 Highway 25 N., Edgefield, SC 29824. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Pallbearers will be Zach Green, Preston Altman, Jim Griffis, Jay Wates, Randy Wates, and Scott Quarles.
