Frances Alene Potts Hatcher, 91, of Camilla, died Thursday, November 28, 2024 at Archbold Living Center in Camilla.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Southside Baptist Church in Camilla with the interment in Oakview Cemetery. Rev. Neal Hager and Pastor Jason Wilks will officiate.
Frances Alene Potts Hatcher was born January 7,1933 in Stewart County, Ga to Frank T. and Elizabeth Potts. One of 13 children, Frances married James Ivey “Buddy” Hatcher on January 7,1951; together they had three children, Wandal, Mike and Krista.
Frances was a devoted wife, mother and nanny. She was a homemaker for many years, later working in the retail business and retired from the Mitchell County School System in 1994 as a teacher’s aide.
As a young woman, Frances gave her heart and life to her Lord. She served Him well as a Sunday School teacher well into her 80’s and a Bible School Teacher until age 90. She loved teaching and leading children to the Lord.
Frances also loved crocheting, fishing, making fried apple pies, playing rummy and serving others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her oldest son, Wandal and 8 siblings.
Frances is survived by her son, Mike Hatcher, her daughter, Krista Koehler (Ray) of Camilla; 4 grandchildren, Candi Hatcher, Bert Lawson (Adrianna), Lori McCardle (Luke) and Hannah Davis (Tyler); great grandchildren, Blair, Kayla and Breann Brown, Ivey Lawson, Alyxus McCardle, Carver Davis and Louis Davis; great-great grandchildren, Blair II, Khloe, ElJay, Hailey, Zoey, Zari, J.J., Brycen, Braylon, Leo, Kenadi, Sebastianne and Nala; bonus grandchildren, Dawson, Megan, Skylin and Kasey, Zakary, Genna, Harley and Honey; her siblings, Earl Potts of Albany, Thad Potts of Eastman, Nita Sculley (Steve) of Dallas, TX, Janice Smith (Eddie) of Barwick; sister-in-law, Mary Hatcher of Camilla; special family friend, Rex Marney and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at Southside Baptist Church.
