Elaine Joyce Wood, 81, of Union City, passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, at Edgewood Health and Rehabilitation in Three Rivers.

     A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, MI 49094. Private interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Union City at a later date.

Elaine was born November 13, 1943, in Alma, Michigan to Elmer and Mary (Atkinson) Girard. She married Jerry McNall on September 1, 1961 in Union City. That marriage would end in divorce. On February 10, 1984, Elaine married Winston Wood in Burlington. Winston preceded her in death on February 6, 2004.

     Elaine was a proud homemaker and cooking for others was her love language. When she wasn’t cooking for and spending time her loved ones, she attended the United Methodist Church of Union City, now known as Emmanuel Global Methodist Church. She loved her dog, “Bear”, as well as enjoyed traveling north with her husband, playing sudoku and bingo, and making trips to the casino.

     Elaine is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Vaughn of Rockvale, TN, and Jillane (Darren) Hill of Sturgis; her grandchildren, Kayla and Kyle Kanouse of Rockvale, TN, Megan (Jacob) Gauthier of Sturgis, and Joshua (Cassidy) Hill of Three Rivers; her great-granddaughters, Ava, Rylie, and Addison, and great- grandbaby boy on the way, Phillip; her sisters, Lynette (Tim Grimm) Girard of Drummond Island, Donna (Greg) Hull of Union City, Susan Wilkinson of Union City, sisters-in-law, Jin Dart Gerard of Union City and Mary Ann Girard of Windsor CO; and her best friend of 40 years, Judy Waffle, of Union City.

    In addition to her loving husband, Elaine is preceded by her parents; son, Timothy McNall; and siblings, Peggy Dunn, David Girard, and Mark Gerard.
