Jack R Carstensen, 89, went home to his Savior on November 27, 2024.


Jack was the son of Hans and Marie Carstensen and born in Worth County, IA on July 11, 1935. He was a graduate of Elk Horn High School in Elk Horn, IA and attended Dana College in Blair, NE for 2 years. He also served in the Army National Guard Reserve.


He was married to Karen Rogler on June 16, 1962, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Atlantic, IA. They lived there briefly before moving to Cumberland, IA where Jack was employed at the bank for 22 years.


In January 1989 he and Karen relocated to Oakland, NE where Jack was employed by Farmers & Merchants National Bank for 11 years. They were members of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Oakland Golf Club.


Jack is survived by his two daughters, Marcene Carstensen (Geoffrey Christensen) of North Newton, KS and Annette (Jeff) Andersen of Anita, IA; nephew, Victor (Jan) Smith of Council Bluffs, IA; and niece, Leann (Tony) Baumgarten of Des Moines, IA.


He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Karen, his sister Marilyn Ihnken, his brother-in-law Dallas Ihnken, sister-in-law Nadine Smith, and niece, Wanda Browder.


Jack’s family would like to thank the incredible staff of Oakland Heights and Franciscan Healthcare Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion during his final years.
