James Hayden Mills, 84, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away on November 26, 2024. Born on December 2, 1939, James was a man of quiet disposition and kindness.
A proud veteran, James served six years (four years active duty and two years reserve) in the United States Coast Guard. Post-military, he worked at Strohms Warehouse from which he retired.
James attended Tech High School.
James led a private life. He is survived by his siblings: Mary Sue Whitaker, Charlotte Luttman, Katherine Engleking, Sharon Rader, Sheila Hurst, and Donald Mills.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Elizabeth, and James Mills, as well as his brothers Willis, Glenn, and Joseph Mills.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no memorial service, except for military honors provided by the Coast Guard, honoring his service.
James will be remembered by his family and country. His legacy lives on through his siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and all who knew him.
