Dian J. Poole, 82, of Pekin, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born on June 24, 1942 in Peoria, Illinois, to Lester and Fran (Oltman) Hupprich. Dian married Mike Poole on October 20, 1979 in Pekin, Illinois.

Surviving are her husband Mike Poole of Pekin; four sons, Tom M. Poole of American Fork, Utah, Chris (Tina) Poole of Pekin, Dion (Erika) Barker of Altamont, Illinois and Dusty Barker of Wisconsin; brother, Steve (Terry) Hupprich of East Peoria; sister, Lindsay (Doug) Stetzler of Morton; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dian graduated from Bradley University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She then went on to teach in Morton and Tremont. Dian took a break from teaching to stay home with her children while they were young. After raising her family, she returned to the classroom, where she taught special education and was a substitute teacher in Pekin and South Pekin.

Dian enjoyed traveling having taken trips to Canada, Mexico, Alaska, Europe and Central America. She especially loved going on cruises.

Dian loved her family dearly. She was a great mother. She was thankful for her time she took off from teaching to be a stay-at-home mom.

The Poole family would like to thank the staff at Restmor for the love and care they provided for Dian. They became her second family and treated her as such for over 10 years.

A memorial service for Dian will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 6, 2024, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Jeff Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church or Apostolic Christian Restmor.
