Mary Shasta Self Duncan, 80, of Maiden, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at her residence.
She was born April 21, 1944 in Catawba County to the late Clyde and Ruth Johnson Self. Shasta was a member of Redeemed Baptist Church in Lincolnton and retired from her family business, Lake Norman Upholstery.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Winston Duncan; sister, Betty Burgess; and brother, Paul Self.

Brothers: Benny Self of Salisbury
Morris Self and wife Doris Gastonia
Sister: Myrniss Devine of Iron Station
Grandchildren: Tanya Jones, Bridgett Brannon, Brenna Frey, Abby Duncan, and Alyson Duncan
Great-Grandchildren: Emma Jones, Carter Jones, and Oakley Jones
A service to celebrate Shasta's life will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Redeemed Baptist Church in Lincolnton. Rev. Alan Wheeler will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. at Redeemed Baptist Church. The family will hold a committal service on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.
