Van Woudenberg , Petronella (Petra)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Petronella Zwanita Van Woudenberg, who passed away on 27th  November 2024, at the age of 57, after a courageous battle with brain cancer that began in 2019. 

Petra will be deeply missed by husband Tom, her mother Nel and father Floris (Heather). Her daughters, Rebecca (Justin) and Rachel (Adam). Her three sisters; Mary (Brent), Anneke (Dan) and Gerdine. Nieces and nephews; Sam, Amanda, Aaron and Olivia. As well as her granddaughter Kinsley, who was the light of her life, and many special friends who were a constant support in her life. They will all forever cherish her memory.

Petra was a beloved wife, daughter, mother, oma, sister, and friend whose warmth, generosity, and kind spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a guiding force in the lives of many as she was always willing to offer her love, strength and unwavering support. Her daughters, Rebecca and Rachel, were her greatest joy and her spirit will live on through them. 

Despite the challenges of her illness, she faced each day with remarkable strength and determination. Her resilience inspired all who knew her, and her love for life remained a constant even in the face of adversity. Petra was extremely lucky to have found love throughout her journey and was supported through her difficult final chapter by her devoted husband Tom, who was by her side when she took her final breath. 

Family and friends are invited to Visitations at the Christian Reformed Church, located on McAdam Ave, Fredericton on Sunday December 1, 2024 from 2-4 PM.  A Celebration of Petra’s Life will be held at the same location on Monday December 2, 2024 at 11am with Rev. Daniel Hoogland officiating.  Interment will be in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice House in Fredericton.

Though she is no longer with us, the love and kindness Petra shared with the world will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
