Robert "Bob" Stephens Obituary

In Loving Memory of Robert L. Stephens

1935 – 2024

Robert “Bob” Leland Stephens, husband of the late Marian Stephens of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away in Moncton, New Brunswick, on November 27, 2024, at the age of 89.

Born in Pleasant Point, Nova Scotia, on July 1, 1935, he was the son of the late Emmett and Edith Stephens.  He worked as an Electronic Technician for many years.

He was a true and compassionate artist, teaching oil painting to many people over the years. His own art work centered around fishing scenes stemming from his early life experiences fishing with his father in Lockeport, Nova Scotia, where he grew up.

He was an avid birder and could often be seen with his binoculars and bird book. Many of these sightings became inspiration for his bird carvings.

Robert “Bob” is survived by three daughters: Susan McGlinchey of Fredericton, NB, Cheryl Lee (Ambrose) of Markham, ON, and Wanda Dorris (JP) of Moncton, NB; five grandchildren: Laurinda (Bob), Jeremy (Rebeka), Lana (Derrick), Roxanne, and Danielle; five great-grandchildren: Chelsea, Peyton, Zoey, Noah, and Maddy; two sisters: Lottie Faye of Shelburne, NS, and Marilyn Belong (Charlie) of Digby, NS; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.   He was predeceased by his parents, wife Marian, son-in-law Glenn, and siblings:  Raymond, Gordon, and Kenneth.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King Street, Miramichi, NB, on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 6-8 PM.  Funeral service was held at Adams Funeral Home Chapel, 140 King Street, Miramichi, NB, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 1 PM, with The Reverend Theo Craig officiating.  Music for the service was provided by Cheryl Craig and the hymns were "I Can Only Imagine", "Beulah Land" and "Just Build My Mansion".  The eulogy was presented by JP Dorris.  Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery later in the spring of 2025.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements were entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King Street, Miramichi, NB, telephone (506) 773-3492, or messages of condolence may be sent online to www.adamsfh.ca.
