Helen Louise Hawkins Morgan passed from this earth to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born December 17th, 1936 in East Chicago, IL to Robert (Bob) and Faye Hawkins. Helen was a member of Broadmoor Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. Helen married Charles Wilbur Morgan on February 3, 1955. Together they raised five children, Charlotte (Wes) Miner of Cotter, Donna (Mike) Hancock of Star City, Janice (Dewayne) Glover of Star City, Paula Morgan of Star City, and Justin (Janna) Morgan of Star City. Helen remarried Jim Kelley in April of 2011. Helen loved Jim’s children as her own, Scott, Robin, Mike, all of Grapevine Brian (Kerri) of Flower Mound, TX and Stuart (Jinger) of Charlotte, NC.
Helen was a member of the Eastern Star. Helen spent her days working at Levi Strauss, a mail route carrier, and helping her parents in their orchards in the summer. Helen and Wilbur spent most weekends camping and fishing with their children, her late brother-in-law, Leonard Morgan and sister-in-law, Charlcie Morgan along with many other friends and family. Helen and Wilbur could be found on Saturday nights, with friends and family dancing the night away at the VFW. While married to Jim they spent their time gardening, selling sweet potatoes and pecans. They were very involved in their church, where Helen had many friends. They were involved in the weekly nursing home ministry.
Helen and Wilbur raised their children at Pine Hill Freewill Baptist Church, where they were all saved and baptized. They demonstrated and raised their children with the example and importance of Christ. Helen was a caregiver to her father, Bob, her mother, Faye and her husband, Wilbur.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Faye Hawkins; her in-laws, Houston and Venia Morgan; her husband of 53 years, Charles Wilbur Morgan; her second husband, Jim Kelley; a nephew her and Wilbur adored, Greg Morgan; infant son of Janice (Dewayne) Glover; her brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Shirley Morgan and their daughter, Pam; brother-in-law, Leonard Morgan; brother-in-law, Gilbert Morgan; and sister-in-law, Linda Annette Harrison.
Helen is survived by her children and Jim’s children. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Deanne (Scott) Bruce of Greenbrier, Natalie (Justin) Bennett of Greenbrier, Micha (David) Jones of Star City, Brannon (Christy) Rodgers of Star City, Christopher (Lou) Glover of Warren, Dana Glover of Arkansas City, Jack, Bentley and Zaden Morgan and Adalynn, all of Star City; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Madeline Bruce of Greenbrier, Holt and Cason Bennett of Greenbrier, Haley (Alfonso) of Star City, Zach Nicholson of Star City, Katie, Jace and Greyson Rodgers of Star City, Jayden and Ryan Glover of Crossett, Layla Morgan of Star City, and Carli and Cade Glover of Star City; great great-grandchildren, Marilynn and Maverick Huante; brother, Richard (Dororthy) Hawkins of Star City; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Angie) Morgan of Star City, H.R. (Diane) Morgan of Star City, and Ronnie (Peggy) Morgan of Conway; and sister-in-law, Charlcie Morgan of Little Rock; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10:30AM Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Griffin Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Josh Dutton and Rev. Kevin Kelly officiating. Visitation is 9:00-10:30AM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial at Drake Cemetery. Pallbearers are Dana Glover, Christopher Glover, Scott Bruce, Justin Bennett, David Jones, and Michael Kelley. Memorials may be made to Affinity Hospice, 201 Frankie Lane, White Hall, AR 71602.
