Jack O. King, 92, of Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away on November 27, 2024, at Chautauqua Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Daviess County, on February 17, 1932, to the late Roy and Gertie Bell King. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church.
Jack was a self-taught saxophone player whose love of music gained him recognition across the United States. He had a huge personality with a quick wit and was refreshingly candid. Those close to Jack will remember him as a cigar-wielding storyteller.
Along with his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Wayne Fulkerson King, his daughters, Leda Francis King, Lydia Beth Johnson, and Lana Rose Midkiff, and his grandson, Christopher King.
Jack is survived by his children, Linda Carol (Greg Ruesch) Leach, Lora K. (Ray) Sanders, Larry Wayne (Cathy) King, Leslie Michael (Terry) King, and Lisa Marie (Pat) Bosley; son-in-law, David Midkiff, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Entombment to follow at Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
