Delores A. Sandrock, 89 of Prophetstown died Tuesday November 26, 2024 at her home.
She was born on September 4, 1935 in Prophetstown, the daughter of Kelmer B. and Grace H. (Housenga) Melton and was a graduate of Lyndon High School. She married Burdette Sandrock on September 2, 1956 in Erie. He died August 24, 2023. Delores was a florist and had owned and operated Hillcrest Green House for over 30 years. She also worked a kitchen aide at Prophetstown High School for 23 years and was affectionately referred to as “grandma” by many. Delores and her husband were both active in the Percheron horse community for many years. She was a long time member of First Lutheran Church, Prophetstown.
Survivors include her daughter, Gwen (Chawn) Hurd of Prophetstown; sister Donna Kniskern of Prophetstown; brother K.B. (Carol) Melton Jr of Erie; seven grandchildren: Nickie Morgan, Scott Silva, Danny Silva, Korin Davis, Karlie Sandrock-Walsh, Devin McDivitt and Quincy McDivitt; 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; her son in law Tommy McDivitt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter LuAnn McDivitt; son Glen Sandrock; grandson Anthony Silva; great granddaughters: Emma and Prudence McDivitt; and brother Jack Melton.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 3, 2024 from 4-8 PM at the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown. The funeral will follow on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the church. Burial will conclude at Riverside Cemetery.
