Verna Turnsplenty Obituary

Verna Belle Beulah Turns Plenty

Born in Pryor, Montana on December 28th, 1940 to Ralph Turns Plenty Sr. and Rose DeCrane. She passed peacefully on November 26th, 2024 at the tender age of 83 years. In her last breath she was completely surrounded by her loving family. Her sons Joe and ‘Cipi’ were there to guide her through the gates of Heaven as she was welcomed by so many others who have gone before her. Verna was a sister, mother, aunty, grandmother and friend to many. Verna was a fiercely strong-willed woman with an enormous, loving heart. Strong in her faith and her beliefs knowing she would meet The Lord soon. She was a devout member of the Hope Church and of the Harvest Church. Taking care of others was her life’s work. Family was her #1 priority, from raising nieces, nephews to grandchildren to giving shelter to many others. She refused to leave this world without knowing her family would be taken care of. You felt her love, not only by her words but in her actions. Her home was your home as she was more than welcoming. Upon entering her presence, you could feel her love surround you, holding you as if to say she will always be with you, loving you for the rest of your days.

Verna had several places of employment where her dedication to hard work was a constant throughout. She worked as a teacher’s aide, for the Veteran’s Affairs, Intermountain Indian School in California, Plenty Coups High School, various CNA positions, 107th Committee and volunteer work at St. Vincent DePaul. She worked and retired from the Billings Area Indian Health Service, Human Resources- Classification.

A few of her favorite past times were to watch movies and watch basketball games. Going to the movie theatre for a matinee showing gave her much joy. As she laid sick, that was one of her last requests. Unfortunately, we were unable to grant it. She was a loyal Plenty Coups Warrior fan but would love to cheer you on if she were watching you play basketball. She was a fan of the L.A. Lakers. Family gatherings were of great importance to her. She was looking forward to our family reunion. A gathering with all of her loved ones made her heart full. Verna is rejoicing with The Lord while having her own reunion.

Verna was an inspiration. She taught us through her dedication and discipline that we can overcome any obstacle in our life. She encouraged us to pray and to attempt to better our situation! In doing so we gain more than material goods, but self-worth, pride and satisfaction in a job well done. Verna was a protector, our supporter, an advisor and our strength that we depended on our entire lives. A beautiful soul who taught us to walk on our own, hold our head high and to have faith in The Lord in all that we do. Now is our time to make her proud of all that she instilled in us. We love you so much and you are missed in every breath we take.
