Dorothy I. Kennedy, 81, of Houston, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in the Washington Hospital.
She was born October 26, 1943, in Houston, a daughter of the late Edward C. and Bernice Rupert Nixon.
Mrs. Kennedy attended Chartiers-Houston Schools and was a member of the Harvest Time Chapel in Canonsburg.
Dorothy had worked as Quality Control Foreman for Tatano Plastics in Houston and Washington. She had also worked as a cook for Karen’s Korner and the Washington Hospital.
Her hobbies included arts and crafts, reading and following the Pittsburgh Penguins. Most important was raising her family and time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are eight children, Cora Lynne Puchi (Martin) of Canonsburg, Deborah Maczko of Houston, John Edward Kennedy of Houston, Daniel J. Kennedy (Michelle) of Allenport, Paula Kennedy of Canonsburg, Jean McLaughlin of Houston, Tara Shipe of Canonsburg and Candace Kennedy (A.J. Graytok) of Canonsburg; a sister, Karen Glass (Tony) of Washington; 15 grandchildren, Richard Sefzik III (Chelsea), Tiffany Hinerman, Briana Elias (Adam), John Christopher Maczko (Caitlin), Daniel Kennedy Jr., Harley and Hannah Roberts, Britny and Ashley Shandor, Linda McLaughlin, Mackenzie McIntyre, Nathan and Olivia Shipe, Jessica Pardini (Joseph) and Zachary Southern; 11 great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents are her Husband, John N. Kennedy who died in 1970; two sisters, Thelma Smith and Helen Jane Brock; and a granddaughter, Casey Sefzik.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 Monday, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2024, with Rev. Frank Menhart Jr. and Pastor John Ayres officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
