Kathleen Marie (Meyer) Cech
Age 70 of Owosso passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at her home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Michael O'Brien officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary prayed at 7:00 pm and one hour prior to mass on Wednesday.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathy Cech after a 3 1/2 year battle with breast cancer.
Kathy was born in Killeen, Texas, August 27, 1954. She was raised in Chesaning, the oldest of 5 siblings. Her parents were Robert and Patricia (Gasser) Meyer.
Graduating from Chesaning High School in 1972, she participated in the choir and drama club acting in several plays.
Kathy worked at Ballards Bakery while attending beauty school. She worked as a beautician at a local K-Mart and sewing floor mats at Akro. Kathy loved working with children and had a special bond with them. She worked at a daycare and then opened her own licensed day care, and went on to work for Noah's Arc Day Care.
Dan and Kathy were married on May 25, 1974 having reached their 50th Anniversary. She was involved in St. Joseph's Catholic Parish serving as Eucharistic minister. Kathy and Daniel raised 3 sons and are blessed with 4 grandchildren.
She was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers, taking many bus trips to Tiger Stadium and later Comerica Park.
Kathy was preceded in death by her 2 year old son Kevin, father Robert and mother Pat Meyer.
Survivors include her husband Dan; sons Brian (Erika) Cech and Gary (Mandy) Cech; grandchildren Kailyn (TJ) Thelwell, Gabrielle Cech, Bennett and Faye Cech; siblings Cheryl (Paul) Bates, Dave (Becky) Meyer, Jeff (Nora) Meyer, Michelle (Dan) Coberley; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; brother-in-law Joe Cech; sister-in-law Therese (John) Woodhams and their families.
