Sylvia Rae Haskell, 84, died November 27th, 2024, Brooksville, FL. She was born in Sanford, Maine to Clarence and Bertha Hartford on July 5, 1940. She graduated from Schenck High School in East Millinocket, Maine, in 1958 and married Albert C. Haskell in January of 1959. They had three children, Al Haskell Jr, Gregory, and Ellen. Sylvia and Al had 49 happy years together, traveling coast-to-coast in their RV, playing cards with friends and camping in the Rocky Mountains.

Al’s job with Kodak meant moving their family first to Rochester, NY, and then to Loveland, Colorado, where they lived from 1970 to 1988. In retirement they lived in their motor home for five years, finally settling down in Naples, Florida.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her mother and father (Bertha and Clarence Hartford), husband, Albert Sr. whom she missed every day, her middle son, Greg, her brother, Frederick Hartford, two sisters, Claire Stanley (and Claire’s husband, Barry), and Freda, who died as an infant.

She is survived by her eldest son, Albert Jr and his partner Stacy, her daughter Ellen Marie, her grandson Jeffery Haskell, of Layton, UT, her siblings Curtis Hartford Sr. and his wife Barbara, Timothy Hartford and his wife Jill (in whose loving care Sylvia spent her last years), her sister-in-law Joanne Hartford, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Sylvia had many hobbies including cooking, sewing, quilting, crochet, knitting, needlepoint, camping, and beating Al Sr. mercilessly at cards. She loved fried clams so much that she would eat them several times a day, every day, when visiting her family in Maine. She was sassy, fun loving, and had a wicked sense of humor. She will be missed by all who knew her.
