James Dunn Douglass
April 17, 1928 – November 27, 2024
Age 96.5, of Upper St. Clair, PA, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Friendship Village.
He was born April 17, 1928, in Pittsburgh, PA, and after marriage was a longtime Mt. Lebanon resident.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Nancy Kress Douglass; and he is survived by their four children, Anne Cook (Lindsley) of Bethel Park, Jay Douglass (Judy) of O'Hara Township, Amy Boyle (John) of Pittsburgh, and Kathy Hamilton (Scott) of Greensburg; as well as thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and counting.
He graduated in 1945 from Perry High School and in 1948 from Carnegie Tech, Pittsburgh PA.
He started his Electrical Engineering career with West Penn Power before being conscripted into the Army where he was stationed at Fort Eustis, Virginia. On his release from the Army, he began his 35 year career as a Design Engineer with McGraw Edison Power Systems Division in Canonsburg PA.
Throughout his life he and Nancy did extensive traveling around the world and across the country, but always came back to Southwestern PA.
He was a very active member of Beverly Heights and Westminster Presbyterian Churches as well as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
