Richard MacDougall of Charlottetown, aged 86 years, died on November 27, 2024 at the QEH surrounded by his sons.

Born in Springfield West, Richard is survived by his children Stephen (Kathy), Dana (Sandra); his grandchildren Nathan (Erika), Natasha (Kurtis), Dallen, Logan and his siblings Eric, Ralph and Judy, great granddaughters Brianna and Kiera and several nieces and nephews. His mother, Marion (MacDougall) Shaw, predeceased him in 2020.

Richard spent his working life as a trucker for Speedway, Midland, RST and other companies across the Maritimes and Alberta.  He loved the West and would tell many stories of his times going through the Rocky Mountains, BC and Alberta and the sights he saw on his travels. He went from one end of this land to the other many times as a trucker and was very proud of the country and what he saw.

His passion was horse racing.  He could be seen at the Red Shores Track studying the program and betting on the ponies from Charlottetown to Woodbine and all the way to Florida and the rest of the States.  He loved to watch the horses run, admired the skilled drivers and never missed a Gold Cup and Sauce race each August.

Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home with a visitation on Monday, December 2nd at 1:00 PM and a service at 2:00PM. 

Interment will take place in The People's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to a charity of their choice.
