Vivian “Christine” Weekley,
Born the third child of Homer and Naomi Swiger on October 16, 1937, in the family’s home on Broad Run in Doddridge County, WV., Christine passed away at the age of 87 on November 26, 2024, at the Genesis Salem Center in Salem, WV., surrounded by loved ones. Christine graduated from Doddridge County High School in 1956 and joined the USAF shortly thereafter. In addition to being a teletype operator in the U.S. Air Force, she returned to West Virginia, where she worked as a correction officer at the Salem Industrial Home for Girls, was a mail carrier in Tyler County, and worked at the Colin Anderson Center in St. Marys, WV. She was a charter member of the Elk Lick Church of God.
Christine is survived by two children: Myra R. Mulvay and Mark E. Hardgrove. She has four surviving grandchildren from Myra and Harlond Mulvay – Chasity (Matt) Ash, April (Tim) Parsons, Annie (Tim) Pratt, and JR Mulvay – and three grandchildren from Mark and Sun Hardgrove – Timothy, Candace, and Destin Hardgrove. In addition, Christine has nine great-grandchildren (Megan, Dillon, Zeta, Austin, Whitney, Timothy, Saphire, Ali, Emily) and five great-great-grandchildren. Christine is also survived by sisters Cleo Horton, Carrie Moore, Mary Webber, and Eva Kendrick, and brother Larry Swiger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Naomi Swiger; her first child, Jackie Lee Hardgrove; husband, Loren Keith Weekley; two granddaughters, Melanie and Tina Mulvay; great-grandson, Eric Cain; brother, Frank Swiger; and sister, Naomi Smith.
Her passion in life was her family. She was beloved by all her grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and many friends.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home West Union, 212 Front Street West Union, WV, on Friday, November 29, 2024 from 4-8PM and on Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 9:00AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM with Dr Mark E Hardgrove officiating.
