Edward J. Mireider, known affectionately to friends and family as Ed, passed away peacefully from natural causes on November 27, 2024, at the age of 92. Ed was born on December 30, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, and spent his final days surrounded by loved ones in Staten Island, New York. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend whose warmth and generosity of spirit will be dearly missed. Ed's life was marked by a profound dedication to his family and his country. He was predeceased by Josephine, his loving wife of 36 years. His legacy continues through his daughter Carol Ann and his son David John married to Sharon. Ed is survived by his brother Bob Mireider and his wife Barbara, and his stepchildren, Ed and his wife Denise, Karin and her husband John, and Lori and her husband John. Ed was also a proud and doting grandfather to Gene, Jackie, Victor, Edward, Jenny, Danielle, Alexandra, Stephen, Cameron, Johnny, Emily, Logan, and Aidan, and great-grandfather to Nicholas, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life. During the Korean War, Ed served with distinction on the flight deck of the U.S.S. Yorktown in the Navy, an experience that instilled in him a lifelong sense of pride and patriotism. His military service was a defining chapter in his life, and the values of discipline and camaraderie he learned during those years remained with him throughout his lifetime. Following his military service, Ed's leadership skills led him to a successful career in the printing industry. He served as the Vice President at Confort and Company, where his colleagues respected him for his integrity, dedication, and insightful contributions. Ed's professional life was characterized by the same reliability that he brought to every aspect of his life. Beyond his professional achievements, Ed was a passionate fan of the New York Rangers, following the team with enthusiasm through every season. He also found great pleasure in woodworking, a hobby that allowed him to create beautiful pieces and share his craftsmanship with those he loved. Ed's life was a testament to the values he held dear: hard work and service to others. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his ready smile, and the easy way he made friends wherever he went. Though Ed has left us in body, his spirit endures in the memories we hold and in the lasting impact he made on his family, friends, and community. We take solace in knowing that his was a life filled with purpose and love, and that his legacy will continue to shine brightly through the lives of those he cherished.
