It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of David Filippello Sr., a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather, and great grandfather. David passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, at the age of 82, with his family by his side. He will be remembered for his positive qualities like his playful and witty personality that was contagious with everyone he met.
Born in Chicago, IL, on August 17, 1942, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mary (Fumo) Filippello. David grew up in Kenosha, WI, and attended Bradford High School. He was a route salesman for many years. In retirement, he enjoyed cooking, and helping out at the Italian American Club, where he served as a dedicated board member for many years.
On October 19, 1963, he married the girl next door, Viola Paura at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Kenosha, WI. They went on to build a beautiful family.
He was a proud founding member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. He served as a Boy Scout and 4H Leader (Pack 583). His wife and family spent many summers enjoying their weekends at Willow Run Resort Park. David was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed sports, especially cheering on the Green Bay Packers. Through it all he always appreciated a good meal and a sweet treat.
David is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Viola Filippello of Pleasant Prairie, WI; their three children, David (Kathy) Filippello, Jr., Debbie (Chris Doyle) Jecevicus, and Amy (Chip) Caputo. He is also survived by many grandchildren, Kari (AJ) Marquardt, Tony (Lexi) Filippello, Ashley Jecevicus, Alyssa (Caleb) Neuwirth, Madelyn Filippello; great grandchildren, Tyler and Aubrey Marquart; and brother-in-law, Tony Paura.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Beth Madisen.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment in All Saints Cemetery & Mausoleum will immediately follow. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
