Pina Frances Payton Tungate, of Liberty, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was 83.
She was born July 5, 1941, in Casey County, KY, to the late Oscar Ray and Nellie Mae Sears Payton.
Pina was a homemaker and loved gardening, cooking, eating and sewing.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James “Moody” Johnson; her son, James Brent Johnson; and her brothers, Jerry Payton, James Estil Payton, Marshall Payton, Carlos Payton and Coy Downs.
Pina is survived by her daughters, Donna Johnson, Kimberly (and Rodney) Luttrell, Susie (and William) Lynn and Gail Shearer, all of Liberty; her son, William Johnson of Liberty; her sisters, Polly Walls, Rose Denson, and Bernice Walls, all of Liberty; her brothers, Billy Payton of Indiana, Muxie Payton of Indiana, James Payton of Indiana, and Wallace Payton of Liberty; her grandchildren, Jay, Renee, Marcie, Amanda, Gary Lynn, Jessie Ray, Nikkesha, Tracy, Dewayne, Natasha, Tyler, Julie and Raechelle; 28 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Sunday, December 1, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. William Lynn officiating. Burial will follow at Peyton Ridge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00PM Sunday, December 1, 2024, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Lynn, Tyler Pittman, Zachary Moore, Dewayne Turpin, Jessie Turpin and Eric Luttrell.
In memory of Pina, donations may be made to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
