SHAULIS - David W. “Pappy”, “Buddy”, “G-Pa”, 63, of Woodstown, died in the Lord, November 26, 2024 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical center with his family nearby. Born March 14, 1961 in Somerset. Son of Paul and Anna Mae (Manges) Shaulis. Also preceded in death by son, Josiah Shaulis. Survived by wife of 42 years, Cyndi (Pritts) Shaulis; sons, Jordan Shaulis of Alaska, Nathan Shaulis and wife Sarah of Minnesota, Jesse Shaulis of Alaska and Andrew Shaulis and wife Cheryl of Pennsylvania; daughters, Meghan, married to Scott Haythorn, Tennessee, Olivia, married to Corey McDaniel, Pennsylvania and Chloe Shaulis, who patrols and regularly pulled dad over on the way home at the crossroads he “loved” to stop at in Conemaugh Township. His children followed his lead by giving him 11 grandchildren with one on the way (and counting); Aletheia, Josiah, Elena, Ella, Jack, Weston, Graham, Tripp, his terror twins Brooks and Fletcher, and his precious Wreni. David was a very loyal brother to Paul Shaulis and wife Janet, Susan and husband Charlie Yoder, Nancy and husband Chris Thomas, and late brother who he joined in heaven, Roger Shaulis and wife Karen. He was also blessed through Cyndi with in-laws, the late Gene Pritts, Sr. and wife Annie Lou Pritts, who lived next door for 26 years in the house they built themselves, Lei Lani and her husband John Dibert, Gene Pritts, Jr and wife Maureen, and Dave Pritts all who he referred to Cyndi as “YOUR family”. He was also known as Uncle Dave Dad to many nieces and nephews. David attended Conemaugh Township High School where he met his wife Cyndi when they were 15 and 16 years old and have been inseparable ever since; graduating in 1979. David was born again as a young adult and led Cyndi and his family faithfully in Christ his whole life. He served in the Army National Guard and retired after 20 years of service. He was also a dedicated worker throughout his career starting at Sani-Dairy and ending in management at Gautier Steel where he was intending to retire within the next two years. David continued to set an example of hard work and selflessness for everyone around him through many years of volunteering for everything from coaching soccer, refereeing, running the score board, to operating the camera at the church he was a member of at Emmanuel. David loved his Harley, his Kabota tractor, and Pittsburgh Penguins…in that order. Cyndi claims his favorite part of going to games was the Squirrel Hill tunnel and he was the number one fan of everyone slowing down at the entrance as he sat in traffic. David was quick witted and always jokingly claimed to be “terrible” when his children asked him how he was doing. However, Cyndi says one of her last memories was him telling her how great of a life they had created together. He was proud of his kids and would brag about them to everyone who listened. He was incredibly proud of his son Jordan’s military service and his daughter Chloe being an officer, he loved hearing all the stories of her police work. He enjoyed riding his Harley, golfing, bowling, hunting, and fishing but most of all he loved that doing these things meant spending time with his kids and grandkids. His wife and children chose, through this tragic loss of life, for David to continue his legacy of humility by donating his organs to save and change the lives of many other individuals. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8PM Friday, November 29 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 109 Church Road, Davidsville. A celebration of his life will be held 11AM Saturday, November 30 at Emmanuel Church, 425 Luther Road, Johnstown with Pastor Nathan Shaulis and Pastor Luke Breeze presiding. In lieu of flowers, his wife Cyndi has asked for donations to the Ministry at Woodlands Bible Church where he proudly sat in the pews to listen to his son Nathan preach. Donations may be made at (https://app.easytithe.com/app/giving/woodlandsbiblechurch) or check can be sent to 204 Adams Avenue, Eveleth, Minnesota 55734. The family is thankful for the care and treatment Dave received in the ICU at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, they would also like to acknowledge the work of the CORE team who diligently worked to have a smooth process through the gifting of his organs.
