Melba Krenek Jirasek, age 100, of Lovelady passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Harbor Hospice House in Pearland. She was born September 25, 1924 in Lovelady to parents, Frank and Bettie (Knox) Krenek. After graduating from Pearson Chapel High School, she moved to Houston, worked as a welder during World War II and married Calvin Jack Jirasek. Later in life, she worked for over 20 years as a cashier, checking groceries. After retiring in 1988, she and her husband returned to her father’s farm in Lovelady where she later became a member of the Pearson Chapel Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 134 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary for many years where she enjoyed volunteering at the nursing homes around Crockett. She was a lifetime member and actively involved in the Crockett Eastern Star and later joined the Pearland Eastern Star.
Melba is survived by son, Mark Jirasek of Dallas; daughters, Deborah Williams and husband, Mel of Manvel, Barbara Sollars and husband, Rolin of Frisco; grandchildren, Madelyn Jirasek and spouse, Regina Parker of Dallas, Nick Jirasek and wife, Hilary of Dallas, Tracy Govella and husband, Arron of Pearland; 3 great-grandchildren; and many loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Calvin Jack Jirasek; two sisters, Alma Lois Donner Jordan, Betty Jean Neill; and daughter-in-law, Teresa Jirasek.
Funeral services for Melba Jirasek will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the Salem Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
