Arnold G. Ward, 85, of St. Paul, died at 2:05 A.M., Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village at St. Paul.


He was born November 9, 1939 at St. Paul, a son of Add and Elsie Irene (Holding) Ward. He grew up at St. Paul and attended school there, graduating from the St. Paul High School in 1958. He then moved to California where he was employed at the Pacific Lumber Company. In 1963 he was drafted into the United States Army and served in Germany. He returned to Ft. Hood and was discharged in 1965 and returned to California and continued working at Pacific Lumber. He later returned to St. Paul where he worked as a machinist for the MKT Railroad. He was employed there from 1969 until 1987 and later worked for the Neosho County Highway Department, beginning in 1988. He retired in 2002.


On January 31, 1967 he was united in marriage to Mary Alice Barnes at Eureka, CA. She preceded him in death on April 4, 2003. He later married Nancy Carol (Eggen) Westhoff on March 19, 2009 at Miami, OK. She survives.


He was a member of United Chapel at Rural McCune. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and in later years, bowling.


In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters – Stephanie Daniels, and her husband, Kenny, Bella Vista, AR, Glenita Johnson, and her husband, Tim, Longview, WA; three step-children – Jim Westhoff, and his wife, JoAnn, Chanute, KS, Rodney Westhoff, Moran, KS, Randy Westhoff, and his wife, Lorie, Erie, KS; seventeen grandchildren – Shane Hill, Madras, OR, Jordyn Daniels, Wilsonville, OR, Whitney Daniels, San Diego, CA, Aaron Daniels, Bentonville, AR, Jamie Westhoff, Carthage, MO, Jacqueline Pelkey, Chanute, KS, Jonathan Westhoff, Chanute, KS, Jillian Westhoff, Chanute, KS, Alyssa Blevins, Moran, KS, Alysha Michaels, Uniontown, KS, Kenleigh Westhoff, Iola, KS, Marlee Westhoff, Iola, KS, Gennie Mullen, Walnut, KS, Samantha Bohrer, Erie, KS, Tyler Westhoff, Savonburg, KS, Tucker Westhoff, Erie, KS, Devon Westhoff, Erie, KS; numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers – Don, Ray, Tom, Albert, Ronnie and Marvin Ward; one sister – Opal Beard and one son – Keith Ward, who died in 1985.


Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 6, 2024 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home at St. Paul, with Mark Pearson officiating. Inurnment will be in Hope Cemetery with Military Honors given by the George L. Hendricks Post No. 102, American Legion. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until service time Friday.
