Richard Joseph Winnie

Richard Joseph Winnie, age 76 of Peachtree Corners, GA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2018. Born June 23, 1942 in New York City to the late Samuel W. Winnie Sr. and Margaret Zarmon Winnie. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann Neale Winnie and his brothers, Samuel W. Winnie Jr. and Donald F. Winnie. He is survived by his son, Douglas Winnie and his husband, Mike of San Francisco, CA and his nephew, David Winnie and his wife, Pam of Joppa, MD. Rich’s passion was playing golf, talking about it and coaching his nephews. He also loved to watch baseball and football. As a native New Yorker he never lost his love for the New York Giants (baseball) and Willie Mays. Rich was a great friend to many and well known for his quick wit, sense of humor and immense generosity. He and his wife, Neale were often the hosts of special gatherings which were filled with much laughter and great memories. Rich was the owner of Southern Staffing along with Neale. They managed it together with their long time, loyal staff. A veteran of the US Army 1964-66, he saw action in Viet Nam and was a member of the American Legion Post 251.The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct 26 at 1:00 PM in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes and Crematory. Refreshments will be served following the burial at the Berkeley Hills Country Club, 2300 Pond Rd Duluth, GA 30096.
