Carver W. Wagner Obituary

Carver W. “Jr.” Wagner, 74, of rural Fayette, died Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Fulton Manor. He was born April 2, 1944, in Cincinnati, OH, the son of the late Carver and Catherine (Merten) Wagner. Jr. was a 1962 graduate of the former Chesterfield High School. Then, in the midst of the Vietnam War, he selflessly enlisted to serve his country as a member of the United States Army. He spent the majority of his working career with Cooper-Standard in Archbold, and formally retired in 2009. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and camping, and was an avid fan of NASCAR, University of Michigan football, and Detroit Tigers baseball. Jr. proudly upheld memberships with the Morenci American Legion Post 368 and the Fayette American Legion John Dale Post 143. Jr. married Linda L. (Link) Smith on September 8, 1990, in West Unity, and she survives. Also surviving to mourn his loss are his children, Michael (Maria) Wagner of Archbold, Diane (Carmen) Molitierno of Morenci, Tim (Sue) Smith of Manitou Beach, MI, Tamara Griffiths of Montpelier, Todd Smith of Fayette, and Shawn (Kellie) Smith of Wauseon; a sister, Eileen (Paul) Taylor of Morenci; two brothers, Ken (Connie) Wagner of Fayette and Marty (Diana) Wagner of Morenci; nineteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, October 25, 2018, beginning at Noon at the Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette. A funeral service for Jr. will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. William VanValkenburg to officiate. Military honors performed by the Fulton County Honor Guard will conclude the service. Private interment will be made at a later date in the Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. Those planning an expression of sympathy may consider memorial donations in honor of Jr. to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
