Marianne Schweikert Obituary

Marianne Schweikert was born on August 11th, 1954 in Toledo, Oregon to Russell Gray and Thelma Humphries. She graduated from Toledo High School and moved a few years later to the Stayton area to be close to her sister Nancy. Soon after moving close to her sister Nancy and brother-in -law, Marianne became aware of Rick Schweikert, who was freshly discharged from the Army and living in Dallas, Oregon. Rick would often visit his brother who was Nancy’s husband when he came to town. Rick caught Marianne’s eye and soon enough the two were dating. After a short courtship, the two would then be married on February 1974 in Toledo, Oregon. A few years later the two would adopt their son Kevin. Early on Marianne would work as a cook and then as a cook for the Turner Care Home. This would start her on a lifetime of caregiving. She worked privately and for differently agencies during her career but her most notable job was for Visiting Angels. She signed on with them when they were first getting started and worked many years for them as a nurse. Marianne loved to read and would often lose herself in Harlequin Books and collected many of them over the years. Another passion of hers was sewing. She would often make her own clothing so that she didn’t have to spend money at the stores. On Saturdays, she was often seen at the Lebanon Saturday Market where she would sell her baked goods. This was an opportunity for her to socialize and keep up with the goings-on, as well as, earning a little extra cash. On October 20th, 2018 Marianne passed away in Albany, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Thelma, sister Nancy and son Kevin. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 45 years Rick Schweikert. A public viewing will take place October 25th, 2018 at Weddle Funeral Service in Stayton, Oregon followed by a graveside service at Miller Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
