James Lewis Carey, 87, husband of Violet Devine Carey, died Tuesday November 26th at his residence. Born June 16, 1937 in Garrard County, he was the son of the late Omer and Bessie Mae Brim Carey. He was a self employed painter, collected knives and attended Herrington Lake Pentecostal Church.

Survivors in addition to his wife include: One son, James L. Carey, Jr. of Burgin; four daughters: Mary Donna Carey (Kenneth) Holland of London, KY, Kimberly (John) Stine of Frankfort, Cynthia Annett (Jeff) Ison of Sadieville and Melissa Charlene Carey Truscott of Burgin; one brother: Robert (Carlene) Carey, Burgin; eight grandchildren: Misty Day, Donnie (Amanda) Judge, Christine Ison, Jessica Ison, Darrell Dearing, Gary Dearing, Holly (Chad) Cole and Megan (Tevin) Brown; twelve great grandchildren: Lyndsey Day, Hunter Day, Karrigan Judge, Madison Judge, Brantley Judge, Riley Ison, Hagan Grigsby, Aiden Ison, Keegan Dearing, Kaleigh Dearing, Gary Wayne Dearing, Jr. and Cason Cole.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Robinson; four brothers: William Calvin Carey, Omer Carey, Jr., Gene Carey and Thomas Carey

Funeral services will be conducted 1 P.M. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Larry Holbrook and Mark Tolson officiating. Burial will be in the Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery with Darrell Dearing, Gary Dearing, Hunter Day, Chad Cole, Paul Hensley and Donnie Judge serving as Pallbearers.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Friday until the hour of service.
