Theresa Laudano Pollio, 98, of East Haven, beloved wife of the late Anthony Pollio, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 26, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and soon-to-be great-great grandmother. Loving mother of Robert A. (Victoria) Pollio of Hamden, Martha (Charles) Shugrue of West Haven, Michael L. (Helen) Pollio of East Haven, Rita (Gregory) Pikor of GA and Salvatore J. Pollio of East Haven. Theresa is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her children, cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren and soon-to-be great-great grandchild. Theresa was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Andrew J. Laudano, and her sisters, Antoinette Panico and Rosemarie Liguore. Theresa was born in New Haven on May 12, 1926 daughter of the late Peter and Rose Benevento Laudano. She took pride in her home and entertaining her family and was happiest with a full house. She loved her family and was always their biggest fan, cheering them on in whatever activities they pursued. She loved a good book and was a fierce competitor. Theresa was a member of the Ladies Guild, a bowling league and Widows and Widowers. She was a devout Catholic and was dedicated to her church, Our Lady of Pompeii. She volunteered for many parish clubs and events. Prior to her retirement, Theresa worked at First Bank and Bank of America for many years.
Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven FRIDAY morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call FRIDAY morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
