Robert "Bob" Lindaman Obituary

On Saturday, October 20, 2018, Robert (Bob) Lindaman, hard-working husband and father of five children, passed away at the age of 81 after a painful battle with his third form of cancer. Bob was born on November 15, 1936 in Waverly, IA to Bert and Marie (Tellinghuisen) Lindaman. After graduating from Allison High School, he attended Bethel College in St. Paul where he met and married his Boston bride, Pam (Everburg) Lindaman on June 28, 1959. They moved to Windom in 1960. He received his MA degree from Mankato State University in 1965. He taught English classes at Jackson and then Windom Area High School until his retirement in 1992. He was known as a demanding teacher who insisted on the best from every student. In 1966, Bob and Pam moved to their idyllic acreage in the country between Windom and Jackson, a property that they immediately dubbed “Green Acres” where Bob could continue getting his hands dirty with farm work. Bob raised crops and livestock while Pam raised the kids (considered an even trade in the day). The two of them built a new house on the farm property in 1974. Bob rented acreage to farm and brought up his kids in the ways of his depression era sensibilities, meaning hard work and little spending. In 1982, Bob turned an idea for recycling used pallets into one of the few successful pallet companies in the state. He retired from teaching in 1992 but never retired from the farm or his business of Wood ‘N Pallets. Bob was known to be incredibly curious, open-minded about the world, and generous in spirit toward those less fortunate than himself. He was also confidently opinionated, and enjoyed sparring with friends and family on politics, religion, grammar and the Vikings. Everyone, he felt, should be informed and form their own opinions. He pursued his hobbies like his work, with purpose, making time for tennis, theater, travel and spending time on the farm with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Pam Lindaman of rural Windom; his five children, Jann (Dennis) Guldseth of Apple Valley; Chad Lindaman of Minneapolis; Jill Besong of Apple Valley; Dana (Elise) Lindaman of Duluth; and Amy (Chris) Carlson of Houston, TX; five siblings, Byron (Jean) Lindaman; Theda (Fred) Stearns; Gene (Jan) Lindaman; Ellen (Dave) VanArsdale; and Carol (Clair) Bohlen; as well as 11 grandchildren, Joey Besong, Tyra Guldseth, Greta Guldseth, Tanyi Besong, Audra Carlson, Gunnar Carlson, Oskar Lindaman, Anders Carlson, Ilsa Lindaman, Otto Lindaman, and Dane Carlson; and one great-granddaughter, Anagret Rydland. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Bert and Marie.
