Obituary
Peoria- F.O. (Frank) Kenny, of Peoria, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 2:37 AM at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Peoria, to John C. and Ann E. Sheridan Kenny. He married Laura J. Carney Sept. 09, 1961, in Ladd. She survives, along with five children: David, Rob (Linda), both of Peoria; Joe (Kate) of Omaha, NE; Patrick (Laurel) of Arlington Heights, and Susan (Jason) Miller of Antioch. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, as well as one brother, Martin, of Peoria, and a sister Nancy Norton, of Decatur. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Jack, Jim, Tom, Jerry, and Jerome, and a sister, Mary Errion Bailey. Frank retired from Caterpillar in 1996 after 29 years in Marketing, Human Resources and the Caterpillar Training Institute. He was a Peoria Journal Star reporter from 1961-67. He was a graduate of Spalding Institute and Bradley University and was a two-year veteran of the Marine Corps. He served as interim Peoria County Circuit Clerk in 1998 and was an eight-year member of Peoria County Board. He also served two terms as a Greater Peoria Sanitary District Board Trustee. His community activities included being a block captain for the Uplands Homeowners Assn.; Democratic Party precinct committeeman; Red Cross blood and pheresis donor; Cancer Society volunteer driver; volunteer for and former Board Chairman for Heart of Illinois Harvest; former president, St. Brendan’s Division; St. Patrick’s Society Lifetime Member and Friends of Clonmel Board member. He was also a volunteer at Proctor Hospital. He was former chairman of St. Mark’s School Committee and a member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Spalding Council #427. Cremation rights have been accorded. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 between the hours of 4:00 Pm till 7:00 PM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with an additional visitation being held 30 minutes prior to mass. Fr. Thomas Taylor will officiate. A private burial will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Unity Point Hospice, Staff of Life Nursing, and Independence Village for their love and care for Frank and the family.
