Funeral services for Henry Oscar Evans, 84, of Monroe, will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, October 22, 2018, at Lighthouse Baptist Church with Rev. David McGuffie officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Mr. Evans was born November 11, 1933, in Monroe, LA, and passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018, at St. Francis Specialty Hospital. He was retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation. Mr. Evans had a love for the Lord, loved fishing, gardening, eating out with his friends and family, and his Sunday school class. He had a special love for his wife and family and was a wonderful father and grandfather. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Clyde and Ida Crawley Evans; daughter, Deborah “Debbie” Thornhill; and sister, Clydine Parker. Survivors include his wife, Betty Evans; daughter, Jan Lenard and husband Steven; grandchildren, Blake Thornhill, Ashley Lenard, Tal Lenard, and Ethan Lenard; and many nieces and nephews. Oscar and I were life-long friends, since very little boys. We were always there for each other. I will miss him more than anyone will know, but I am happy he is safe in the arms of Jesus. I will join him when God calls me home. Donald McGough
