With profound sadness, the family of Dr. Deborah Salmon announces her passing after a courageous battle with cancer. Dr. Salmon, 51, peacefully passed away on November 18, 2024, at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, surrounded by her children.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica on October 30, 1973, Dr. Salmon was the daughter of Isolene Brissett. She spent the first three-quarters of her life in Jamaica before migrating to the United States in pursuit of a better life for her family. Throughout her journey, Dr. Salmon earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work, a Master of Science in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Mental Health Counseling. She dedicated her career to serving others, holding various roles at Hillcrest Educational Centers, the State of Massachusetts, The Brien Center, Choices Mentoring Initiative and Grow Therapy, where she worked as a Shift Supervisor, Licensed Clinician, Clinical Supervisor, Licensed Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Board Member.

Dr. Salmon was never one to be defined by titles. Instead, she made her greatest impact through the personal connections she forged, touching the lives of everyone she met. Whether she was with her family or a complete stranger, Dr. Salmon's kindness, strength, and leadership were felt in immeasurable ways. She was a devoted mother, sister, nana, friend, and an unwavering fighter. Her loss is deeply mourned by her family, friends, colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her

Dr. Salmon will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Monique Salmon; her son, Tyrekee Gordon; her grandchildren, Giovanni Simms and Brooklyn Gordon; her best friend, Dr. Emmanuel Bilé; her mother, Isolene Brissett; her children-in-law, Jean-Luc Ahouan and Gwen Simpson; her siblings; and many friends, coworkers, and others whose lives she touched.

Funeral Notice: A Celebration of Life for Dr. Deborah Salmon will be held at 1:00 PM at Price Memorial AME Zion Church, 27 East St., Pittsfield, MA on Saturday November 30, 2024 with Rev. Constance Harris officiating. Burial will be private. The Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA, is handling arrangements.
