Obituary for Robert Cantella
March 2, 1946 – November 18, 2024
Robert "Bob" Cantella, also known as Kelly to many, 78, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 2, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY, Bob was a man whose life was a testament to love, service, and devotion.
Bob grew up in Brooklyn, NY, where he formed the values and resilience that carried him through a remarkable life. A proud Navy veteran, he served his country with honor and dedication. Following his service, Bob settled in New Jersey, where he built a life rooted in family, community, and hard work. Bob had a passion for cooking. His ability to gather a crowd around the table to enjoy good food and company was one of his greatest gifts and a fundamental part of who he was.
For 52 beautiful years, Bob shared his life with his beloved wife, Diane. Together, they created a legacy of love and laughter, raising their son, Jonathan.
In his later years, Bob and Diane embraced new chapters, moving first to Florida and then to Washington State to be closer to Jonathan and his family. They cherish time spent with their three grandsons, Vincent, Noah, and Oliver, who were the light of his life. Throughout these transitions, Bob carried his Brooklyn spirit and the warmth of his family-centered values with him.
Bob will be remembered as a devoted husband, a proud father, and a loving grandfather. His larger-than-life persona, humor, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; his son, Jonathan; and his grandsons, Vincent, Noah, and Oliver. Bob's legacy will live on in their hearts and in the countless cherished memories they shared.
A ceremony will be held on December 3rd at 10:00 AM at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. Family and friend's who will be attending Bob's Service, please arrive to the cemetery by 9:45 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House 2620 N Commercial Ave. Portland, OR 97227-1631 or the Fisher House Foundation 12300 Twinbrook Pkwy STE 410 Rockville, MD 20852-1650., a veteran’s organization, in Bob’s honor.
