Gary Tillman
Found peace on Monday, November 18,2024, one day following his 69th birthday. Gary is survived by his dear wife, Rochell, sister Kathleen and brother Carl, along with an extended family, in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents William and Kathryn. Gary was a long-time employee of the City of Milwaukee, serving as a tow truck operator for the Police Department. In that role, he met many interesting people and his gregarious nature served him well when coming into contact with multiple mayors and police chiefs during his career of 30+ years. One of his most interesting encounters was when he was selected to be the official tow operator for the vehicle of President Bill Clinton, requiring him to have his own Secret Service agent assigned to him.
Among his many interests, Gary was a big fan of pop music from the 1950's and 60's, and he took great pride in identifying the name of a song and artist within the first note or two. He had a lifelong interest in trains, especially steam locomotives and enjoyed going to any train museum to admire the engines and to climb into the train cars. He was fond of animals, and he would be pleased if memorials were directed to the Humane Society in his memory.
Visitation will be held at Prasser-Kleczka's Bay View Chapel located at 3275 S. Howell Avenue in Milwaukee on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 4:30PM - 6:30PM and again on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 9:30AM - 10:00AM. The Tuesday visitation will be immediately followed by a memorial service at 10AM and a procession to Arlington Park Cemetery where Gary will be interred.
