Dallas Cutshaw Obituary

Otha “Dallas” Cutshaw, born on April 13, 1941, at Broady Hospital in Sevierville, TN by Dr. Robert Broady to Stella “Mae” Cutshaw and William Lawrence Cutshaw.

He was raised in the Zion Hill community and attended Zion Hill Baptist Church and went to school at Zion Hill. He was raised there and where he learned to work on the farm growing tobacco as the last 4 generations had done.

He went on to become a butcher for Delozier’s Sausage Company and Latham’s IGA in Pigeon Forge, TN and retired. After retirement he did other small jobs, but he always said first and foremost he was a farmer. He once said there are only 2 times of the year; it is tough being a farmer and that was the first half of the year and then the second half of the year. He learned cattle farming from his father-in-law, Robert Raymond “BEB” Delozier and the both of them ran 3 cattle farms for years in the Seymour area.

Dallas never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, and was always ready with a funny story and a joke no matter what was going on in this old world.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Lawrence Cutshaw and mother, Stella “Mae” Cutshaw; mother and father in law, Robert Raymond “BEB” and Neva Delozier; brothers, Charles Cutshaw and wife, Grace, Bill C. Cutshaw, Frank Cutshaw, Fred Cutshaw and wife, Frances; brothers-in-law, WR Delozier and wife Betty Ruth, Wilbur Clark and wife, Ruth, Ralph Teague and wife, Georgia, Vernard Loveday and wife, Ruby; special nephews, Donnie Clark and Michael McCarter.

Survived by wife, Jean Evelyn Delozier Cutshaw; son, Rick W. Cutshaw and wife, Penny; grandson, Kyle E. Cutshaw and girlfriend, Elena Belous, and her daughter, Emily; granddaughters, Nicole Beaven and husband, Matthew, Kari Bell and Chris; great-grandchildren, Silas Wayne Beaven, Alice Violet Beaven, Amia Hope Bell and Sierra Faith Bell; special nephew, Larry Cutshaw; and friends, Jim and Tammy Craver.

Special thanks to the Pat Summitt Clinic, South High Assisted Living, and Smoky Mountain Hospice Services.

The picture that was used for his obituary was taken Thanksgiving 2018 holding his great-granddaughter, Amia Bell. This will always be a reminder that we will always be thankful for you.

The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Friday, November 22, 2024 with funeral service following at 7 PM in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Rev. David Carver officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.atchleyfuneralhome.com
