Dennis "Den Den" Hart Obituary

William Dennis Hart, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024 in Parksley.

Born on September 22, 1957 in Nasswadox, he was the son of Beatrice “Bea” Curtis Hart and Borden Hart.

“Den Den” or “Denny” was a Parksley staple and icon. He worked for just about everyone in town, including the Town of Parksley, doing odd jobs, maintenance and cutting grass. He put more miles on his legs than a marathon runner, as he walked every day from his home (both in Leemont and later Parksley) to Dollar General. Den Den loved his life, did it on his own terms, and truly appreciated the Parksley community and the numerous people who always tried to help him out. He was a simple man, who loved his friends, his home and his beer.

Dennis is survived by a sister, nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends and caretakers, Ray and Maryanne Justis and Sandy Hart Mears; and friends, Henry Nicholson, Greg Phillips, Allen and Carl Thornton, Toot-Toot, the Parksley Volunteer Fire Company, and the entire town of Parksley.

In true Dennis fashion, he didn’t want a funeral service, but said it would be okay if everyone wanted to gather and tell stories about him. Friends can gather at his favorite place, his home, 24305 Pine Street, Parksley on Friday, November 29th at 2:00PM. Bring a chair and a story to tell.

Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Parksley, VA.
