Nancy Ann Stovall, a woman of grace, wit, and style, passed away peacefully in Norman, Oklahoma, on November 18, 2024. She was a true lady who never revealed her age, because honestly, it was more fun to keep people guessing. Nancy's sense of humor and optimism allowed her to cultivate happiness across all the years of her life.
A brief graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Duncan Cemetery, with Leonard Keele officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Mike Stovall, Bob Stovall, Caleb Stovall, Hayden Stovall. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Born in Tulsa, Nancy was raised as a proud member of the Church of Christ. During her years at Will Roger's High School, she was an energetic and enthusiastic twirler and majorette. Her deep Christian roots led her to attend college at Abilene Christian College in Texas, where she pledged Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. In hindsight, it was clear to Nancy that the real reason she ended up in Abilene was to meet her beloved, Sam Stovall.
Nancy and Sam made their home in Duncan, Oklahoma, raising three children--Michael, Sherry, and Robert (Bob)--and sharing 69 years of marriage. While Nancy loved being a mother, she was also a dedicated auxilian at Duncan Regional Hospital and served as director of the Red River Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Over the years, Nancy enjoyed family ski trips to Angel Fire, and exploring the glittery landscape of Las Vegas. While she was a devout fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, she was equally obsessed with shopping at Harold's fine clothing store in Norman and visiting as many shoe stores as possible to expand her collection of fabulous shoes.
As a lifelong fitness enthusiast, she enjoyed both attending and leading aerobics classes, but Nancy would say that what she really treasured was taking care of her beloved daughter Sherry, who struggled with a debilitating illness for years. Nancy's love and dedication was unwavering.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Michael Sam Stovall and wife, Nery, and Robert Jack Stovall and wife, Juna. Nancy was head over heels in love with her grandchildren-Caleb Samuel Stovall, Jessa Lynn Stovall, and Hayden Jack Stovall.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Sherry Nan Stovall, her loving parents J.A. and Roxie Montgomery, and her devoted husband, Alfred Samuel Stovall.
In her later years, Nancy moved to Brookdale Assisted Living in Norman so she could be closer to her family. Her friends at Brookdale were uplifted by their new friend, "Fancy Nancy", and the light she carried meant that she was loved by all.
