Francis Levern Grimshaw, age 94, of Caudill Cemetery Road, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Levern was born August 17, 1930, in Wheeler, Michigan, and was the son of the late Perry I. Grimshaw and Edna F. Woodcock Grimshaw.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Waneta Fern Grimshaw Scharff; one son, Ed Grimshaw; three brothers, Herbert “Leroy” Grimshaw, Frederick Grimshaw, and Dennis Grimshaw, and three sisters, Deloris Palmerton, Mary Smedley, and Verna Folsom.

His wife of 61 years, Alta Maude “Sis” Kribs Grimshaw, whom he married January 1, 1954, preceded him in death on December 29, 2015.

Levern is survived by one son, Ivan (Debbie) Grimshaw of Morehead; one daughter, Janet (Steve) Young of Salt Lick; one sister, Carol Grimshaw of Caro, Michigan; a daughter-in-law, Erenia Grimshaw of Bonnieville; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Marines Corps for two years and retired from General Motors after many years of service. Levern enjoyed golfing, making bird houses, playing the guitar and harmonica, and singing. He sang in a musical group and preformed at nursing homes, assisted living centers, and family restaurants. Levern will be forever loved and remembered by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Compton officiating. Burial will follow in Caudill Cemetery on Sharkey Road with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
