Madge Wright Huffman, 93, of Hickory, passed away November 19, 2024, at Trinity Village in Hickory.

Born July 23, 1931 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Chesley Wright and Lucy Warlick Wright.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Huffman, Sr.; brother, Howard Wright; father and mother-in-law, Ross and Rena Huffman; sister-in-law, Theda Reinhardt and husband Frank; brothers-in-law: John Laporte and wife Faye, and Jimmy Huffman.

Madge was a member of First Church of God (Transformation Church), where she served on church council, board of Christian education and at various times she was the President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Women of the Church of God. She also served as a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years.

She was previously employed by Whitener Florist, A Woman’s Clinic and Dr. James Whaley, MD.

She is survived by her children: Lavonda Whitener and husband Charles (Chuck), Bobby Lee Huffman, Jr. and wife Cathy; grandchildren: Krista Whitener Presnell and husband Josh, Bobby Lee Huffman, III (Trey), Caleb Davis and Halee Davis; sisters-in-law: Gail Jonas and JoAnne Huffman, and a number of nieces and nephews, all of Hickory.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Transformation Church with the Rev. Dr. Michael Hone officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 1 – 2:00 PM at the church.

Pallbearers will be: Lee Huffman, Trey Huffman, Chuck Whitener, Josh Presnell, Steve Wright, and Mike Lane.
