Rachel Lindsey Gooch, 95, of Laurens passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Patewood Post-Acute.
Born in Colbert, GA, she was a daughter of Johnnie Bailey and Nellie Smith Lindsey, and was the oldest living member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. Rachel retired as a seamstress in textiles from Nantex in Greenwood, and after retirement, she worked at Kitson grocery store in Greenwood.
She is survived by a son, David Gooch, Sr. (Donna); grandchildren, David Gooch, Jr. (Ashlee), Cherie Scott (Jeremy); step grandchildren, Will Owings (Erin), Ben Owings (Ellison), and Erin Patterson (Tori); great-grandchildren, Taylor Scott, Brandt Scott, and Giovanni Gooch; and step great-grandchildren, Brayden Patterson, Mackenzie Patterson, Banks Patterson, Benjamin Owings, Mollie Owings, Bennett Owings, and Peyton Owings.
Rachel is predeceased in death by a twin brother, Richard Lindsey, and three sisters, Rosa Mae Harper, Annie Lou Huff, and Betty Jean Coile.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Alex D. Henderson and Rev. Don Talley.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service in Room 101 at the church.
The family will be at the home of her son, David Gooch, Sr.
