Rita Theresa Campbell Latham Obituary

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church with Rev. Chad Partain officiating. Interment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.


Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.; a recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held in the Kramer Chapel at 9:30 a.m.


Rita Theresa Campbell Latham, 86, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.


She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Latham; three daughters, Tammy LeBlanc Abate, Trudy LeBlanc Spurgeon, and Shelly Latham Edwards; her parents, Peter and Isobell Mangan Campbell; one sister, Mary Green; and two brothers, Jim and Malachi Campbell.


Rita was born and raised in Belfast Northern Irland. She came to America at a young age, married and had five daughters. Rita served as a Pink Lady at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital for 12 years. She loved sewing, weekly Bourrè games, afternoon coffee or tea with friends and her scrabble and crossword puzzles. Rita was very devoted to her Catholic faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister and friend, who will be dearly missed by all.


Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Theresa M. Hicks of Pineville and Tracy Phelps of Athens, TX; one brother, Peter Campbell of Belfast Ireland; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.


The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amanda Rills and the staff of Guardian Hospice for the care and compassion extended during Rita’s final days.
